Tanzania 2019 Wrap-up [2019-10-20]

Reneal’s 2019 projects in Tanzania, long planned and awaited, are now complete.  Below is a summary of our final report provided to Arusha District and Arusha Region.  Thanks so much to our generous donors and to our partners at the Arusha District Council, Arusha Regional Office, Habari Node, and Arusha Node Marie – we couldn’t have done it without you!  And of course a huge THANK YOU to our partners in the schools, the school heads and computer teachers who bring Reneal’s resources to the students.  Now we begin the planning for 2020!

Greetings of Peace and Joy from Reneal International Education Outreach!  Reneal IEO is a United States NGO with a primary mission of providing computer laboratories to public secondary schools in Tanzania and the Philippines.  We extend our deepest thanks to the Arusha District Council for the partnership with Reneal extending six years now.  As of this date, Reneal has equipped twenty (20) of the public secondary schools in Arusha District with Reneal computer labs.  Two of these schools also now have a second lab for A-Level students’ use.

Reneal computer labs feature a server computer with extensive educational material and programs included for students, along with approximately 17 computers for student use.  The equipment and associated training are provided at no cost to the school.  The school counterpart commitment is providing a classroom with tables, chairs, electricity, and security.  Schools are expected to report problems promptly to Reneal’s Arusha-based team.  The most important commitment is that students will use the computers extensively and only for educational purposes.

In 2019, Reneal completed the following tasks:

  1. Installed Reneal computer labs at five new secondary schools in Arusha District: Osiligi, Bangata, Einoti, Olokii, and Olturumet Secondary Schools
  2. Installed Reneal MacBook-based computer labs for A-Level students at Mwandet and Mlangarini Secondary Schools
  3. Installed a Reneal computer server and other needed items to upgrade an existing computer lab at Olmotonyi Secondary School
  4. Made significant computer hardware upgrades in the Reneal computer labs at Oldonyosambu and Ilboru Secondary Schools
  5. Executed software updates, made repairs, and replaced damaged equipment at the other previously installed computer labs (at Enyoito, Kimnyaki, Kiranyi, Mateves, Mringa, Mukulat, Mlangarini, Mwandet, Nduruma, Oldadai, and Sokon II Secondary Schools)
