Happy New Year [2023-01-10]

Happy New Year from Reneal!  It’s been busy here at Reneal for the last few months.  Reneal Country Director David Nyangaka organized a conference for all school heads in Arusha Region that have Reneal labs at their schools.  Neal has been doing a pretty significant software update to add some additional educational content and to add new features to the System Management Dashboard.  And we just shipped out 27 boxes of computer equipment last Friday, bound for Tanzania schools, thanks to another generous donation from Apto Solutions!

The School Head conference was a chance for David to reacquaint the schools with the educational resources in the system, as well as discussion opportunities and challenges for the schools that have computer labs.  We were so thrilled to have the participation and support of Arusha Regional Administrative Secretary Musa and Regional Education Officer Ntupwa.  Our partners from Habari Node and Arusha Node Marie also joined the meeting.  It had been a long time since Reneal hosted a major meeting, and it was a great chance for everyone to meet and talk.

Reneal Team Tanzania had made some great suggestions in October for the new System Management Dashboard, so Neal has been busy implementing those enhancements.  The System Management Dashboard is an app-based approach that the computer teachers can use for system tasks and maintenance.  It makes managing the system much easier and faster for them and provides some new tools for monitoring usage and performance.  Neal and I also made short videos with both English and Kiswahili captions for each app, so the computer teachers can see exactly what the app does and how it is used.  Neal spent many, many hours getting this software ready for deployment in the servers just shipped, and Reneal Team Tanzania will update the existing servers with these new capabilities when schools are back in session.

In October, Apto Solutions delivered the 2022 Phase 2 equipment to Reneal.  This equipment will be deployed to create new computer labs in nine schools and to expand two existing schools.  The nine new schools are located in four different regions, including Lindi Region (a new area for Reneal).  We are excited that so many students will have new opportunities to learn about computers.  THANKS SO MUCH to Apto Solutions for making this work possible!
