Board meeting [2014-09-14]

Another busy week here, culminating with a Reneal IEO Board meeting this afternoon.  We are excited and pleased to welcome a new member to the board, Steve Guerzon.  Our deepest thanks go to out-going board member Antonio Martinez for 2 years of dedicated service.  Antonio’s insightful questions and attention to detail were an essential part of getting Reneal IEO started on a good trajectory.  We are grateful for his contributions!

The board of directors connected by Skype this afternoon with two key team members in the Philippines, our intern Jade Reyes and Ma’am Nerry Bugtai, the IT teacher at Compostela National High School.  Sir Jade and Ma’am Nerry have been essential to our work there, so what a thrill to finally have them all meet after they’ve heard so much about each other!

In other news this week, we sent off another five boxes of equipment to Cebu for the 2015 projects.  Neal has also completed testing of the Tanzania servers.  The system testing last weekend went very well, so it looks like we’re ready to go in Tanzania!  This coming week, I’ll be picking up hardware at the Education and Life Training Center in Ft. Collins, CO.  We’ll try to get some of that tested and shipped to the Philippines before heading to Tanzania.

At our December meeting, we will be doing some longer-term planning for Reneal IEO.  There are always more interested schools than resources available, but the future is bright to continue to expand the low-cost computer system to new schools.
