Back to school, Part 2 [2020-07-21]

This week brings the beginning of the new school year in Tanzania for Advanced Level (“A-Level”) secondary school students.  Three students from Reneal’s original batch of scholars are starting a new chapter in their lives, traveling to a different school as A-level students.  Cynthia left yesterday for Oshara Secondary School, and Daniel and Elimaini headed to Loliondo Secondary School.  We at Reneal are very excited for them as they begin this next step!

Cynthia will be studying HKL (history, Kiswahili, and languages), and Daniel and Elimaini are taking the PCB (physics, chemistry, and biology) track.  Reneal provides school fees, books, school supplies and equipment, uniforms, dormitory living items, personal items, and a small daily allowance.  A-level studies are for two years, and are similar to Grades 11 and 12 in the US.  It is common in Tanzania for students accepted to A-level to be assigned to schools far from their homes.

Reneal School Liaison David Nyangaka has worked very closely with these three to make sure they have everything they need to be successful in their new academic endeavors.  We are so grateful to David for his hard work in making this program possible.  In addition to his organizational wizardry, David is a fountain of advice and motivation for these young people.  Reneal is also very grateful to the donors who support the scholarship program – we couldn’t do it without them!
