2020 project status [2020-11-30]

Reneal Team Tanzania has continued their efforts in installing new computer labs.  All but one of the new labs is completed!  So far, the Team has installed new computer labs in five public high schools in Longido District as well as a new computer lab at Arusha Girls’ School in the city of Arusha.  These both are new territories for Reneal, with our previous years of work focusing on the rural Arusha District surrounding Arusha City.

The final computer lab to be installed is back in Longido District.  It is a lab where there are already desktop computers from a prior donation, so Reneal’s contribution will be adding a Reneal server and setting up the computers as thin clients.  This lab should be much more easily maintained than the existing Microsoft Windows-based approach where virus protection and elimination are generally major burdens for the computer teachers.

We talk a lot about Reneal Team Tanzania in this blog, but I must say again that Reneal is incredibly blessed to have these folks as a part of the organization.  In addition, the collaborative partnership Reneal forged in 2014 with Habari Node (an internet service provider), Arusha Node Marie (an NGO providing free internet to public institutions), and the government officials of Arusha District (and now Arusha Region) has been long-standing and fruitful.  The silver lining of the pandemic is knowing that Reneal Team Tanzania and Reneal’s partners in Arusha have carried on successfully with expansion to serve more high school students and teachers!

Here are the Team members and Partners who have made this work possible.  They are heroes to us!

Reneal:  David Nyangaka, Robert Nyangaka, and Erick Mneney

Habari Node:  Elibariki Melami, Sebastian Kyagara, Rocky G. Ndigonje, Kepha Vitalis, Jane Langoi, and Erik Rowberg
