Update from the CSS’s [2015-03-27]

Right before we left the Philippines, thirteen new Computer Student Specialists (CSS’s) were identified at Compostela National High School (CNHS) and Compostela Night High School.  A CSS is a student with an interest in computers and a willingness to serve others at the school by helping the IT teachers with various tasks.  Jade and Jillian, key members of Reneal IEO Team Philippines, were part of the original CSS group at CNHS, so this is a program that we are excited to support!

The new batch includes six 9th-grade students, six 8th-grade students, and one 7th-grade student.  Their first activity together was in early March to help install the new computer lab at Compostela Night High School.  It was a GREAT introduction to setting up and testing a computer system, as well as basic maintenance and trouble-shooting.  Ma’am Nerry and Sir Jade have continued the CSS training since then, and we heard from Ma’am Nerry yesterday that the CSS’s were instrumental in helping with the computer and audio-visual setup at graduation this week.  They are already working together as a cohesive unit, and they are doing their work with professionalism, promptness, and courtesy.

The school year ended this week, so these students will return in June one grade level higher and ready to continue their training and work.  We have high hopes for what they can contribute and what they can learn in the coming months and years!
