Mid-Point [2019-09-21]

The busy schedule here in Tanzania has continued since the last blog post.  We completed installation and training at Einoti Secondary School, so we’re halfway done with our planned 2019 expansion.  This coming week brings another two lab installations, along with visits to existing labs.  Slowly but surely, we’re making progress toward our trip goals.  We couldn’t do it without our partners: Arusha District Council, Arusha Region, Habari Node, Arusha Node Marie, and of course Reneal Team Tanzania!

This past week we visited Osiligi Secondary School and Olotonyi Secondary School.  These are schools that were installed in early 2019 by our Team.  It was a pleasure to meet the new Super Users in person and to spend time showing them how to maintain the Reneal system.  We also made repairs and updates in their labs, and we replaced their laptop servers with new desktop servers for improved durability.  We are excited to have these two schools as part of the Reneal family.

We also visited two of our very active schools, Enyoito Secondary School (installed in 2015) and Mateves Secondary School (installed in 2017).  We had a weird motherboard glitch at Mateves which has caused some extra work for Neal, but I think we have a found an approach to ensure that it doesn’t happen again.  Neal has also spent a lot of extra time on the MacBook lab to interface with an internet connection.  We expected that there might be some challenges, given the short time he had to prepare this new workstation approach, but he is making progress.

We are thrilled to report that our partner Arusha Node Marie has installed internet capability at two Reneal schools this year so far: Mwandet Secondary School and Einoti Secondary School.  This is a truly exciting development for the students at these schools!  ANM is planning to install internet at additional schools as well.  We are grateful to ANM and Habari Node for their partnership.

This coming week brings two more installations and visits to two existing schools!
